1.) Mounting the device on a tank, silo or container
a) Mounting the device:
b) Please note:
Angle:
The device has to be mounted horizontally in parallel to the vessel lid. Otherwise it may come to unwanted reflections from the environment leading to signal noise.
Avoid interfering objects:
Please check that there are no interfering objects like other vessel installations, grates or agitators beneath or within close proximity to the radar device.
Avoid metal:
The radar’s antenna may not be covered by metal objects to avoid incorrect measurements.
Water films:
The device must not stand in water. The installation location has to be selected accordingly so that the device doesn’t stand in a water film after rainfalls.
2.) Installation of the device in Netilion Value
a) Creating a new Asset
1. Login to Netilion Value with either your computer or handheld device (internet access required)
2. Click on “All Objects” in the navigation bar at the top of the screen
3. Select “Create” at the top-right corner of the screen (or “+” on a mobile device):
4. Select either “Asset” or “Scan Asset” from the list.
If you chose “Scan Asset”, you can let Netilion fill out the following fields for you by simply scanning the QR code at the front of the device:
Otherwise, please enter the following data into the “Create Asset” form:
Manufacturer: Endress+Hauser
Serial Number: The serial number printed on the back of the device
The following fields are filled out automatically once you either scanned the QR code or entered the manufacturer and the serial number manually:
Product Code: | Filled out automatically |
Product Name: | Filled out automatically |
No matter if you scanned the QR code or you chose to enter the manufacturer and the serial number manually, you can enter the following data into the remaining fields:
Description: | Your description text (free text) |
Production date: If you know the exact production date of your device, you can enter it here. Otherwise, just leave this field empty and it will be calculated automatically out of the product code after proceeding to the next step
Connectivity Settings:
Measuring interval: | Select the time interval the device should be measuring data (default: each 1h) |
Transmission interval: | Select the time interval the device should transmit the measurements to the Netilion cloud (default: each 24h) |
Please note that the two intervals above have an influence on the device’s battery life: The more frequent measurements are taken and transmitted, the faster the battery will drain.
Time of first Measurement: | The exact date and time the device should take the first measurement. Leave the default setting if you want to put the device into operation immediately. |
To confirm the entered data, please click on the “Save and create Tag” button.
b) Creating a new Tag
The next step is to create a new tag which represents the measurement point of your device.
Please fill out the fields in the following form:
Tag: | The name of your measurement point (free text) |
Status: | The status of your measurement point (can be either “Active”, “Inactive” or “Undefined”. Set this to “Active” if your measurement point is used in a productive environment |
Type: | Filled out automatically (“Level”) |
Description: | Your description text (free text) |
Full/Empty Calibration:
Unit: | The unit for the following fields (mm, cm, m, ft, in) |
Empty (E): | The distance from the Micropilot FWR30 device to the minimum level (usually the bottom of the tank) |
Full (F): |
The maximum level measured from the bottom of the tank |
Blocking distance (BD): | The blocking distance defines a blind area in which possible interferences, like a vessel wall or condensate formation, can be suppressed. With the help of the blocking distance function, a blind area can be set additionally and independently from the full/empty calibration. |
Sensitivity: |
The parameter describes how sensitive the sensor should detect the reflected microwaves. The reflection is in association with the dk of the filling medium. If the filling medium has a low reflection, the sensitivity can be set to high in order to detect a better signal. If the filling medium has a high reflection, the sensitivity can be set to low in order to reduce possible confounding factors. |
Properties:
Accessibility: | The complexity to physically reach the measurement point (Easy, Moderate, Difficult or Undefined) |
Criticality: | How critical the measurement point is for your application (Low, Medium, High, Undefined) |
Labels: | Click on the labels that apply for your measurement point to be able to find it easier by using filters later on |
Please confirm your entered data by clicking on the “Save” button.
Finishing the installation
After clicking on the “Save” button in the previous step, the following notification appears on the screen:
Please follow the given instructions to complete the onboarding process of the Micropilot FWR30:
Press the blue button on the device until the LED at the front of the device lights green.
The configuration data is then getting transmitted to the device and a measurement is triggered.
During the measurement, the LED will blink green.
When the measurement is complete and the measurement data has been transmitted to the Netilion cloud, the LED will confirm this step with a fixed green light again. Your device is now fully working and ready to use.
