The digital twin, or asset as it is also called, might already be created because somebody else owned the asset beforehand. This can happen if you buy the asset from a different company than the asset manufacturer, for example, when a machine manufacturer integrates the asset in their machine and sells the machine to a customer.
If the customer would like to access the digital twin, they have to ask the original owner of the digital twin to share the data in Netilion by granting permissions on it. Granting smooth access to the customer can improve the relationship between the two.
Below explains how the owner can grant permission and how the customer can request permission.
What can you do as the original owner (machine manufacturer)
When the customer requests access to the digital twin of an asset, you will receive an email from Netilion with the asset's serial number and the name of the person requesting the asset.
- Click on the button "Answer permission request"
- You will be directed to the ID page of the asset in Netilion. The permission request with an optional message from the customer is shown. The possible permissions are given under "Your Response". You can choose from the permissions:
- Read
- Update
- Delete
- Permit - Select the permissions you would like to grant your customer. In the box, you could even write a personal message to your customer.
- Click on "Save". A pop-up notification at the top of your screen should appear if it is successfully shared.
To efficiently share more assets with your customer, use "User Groups". This lets you share all applicable assets with the customer in one go. Click here for the help article on: How to set-up and use User Groups.
What can you do as the final user (customer)
When you enter the serial number of the asset in Netilion and a digital twin already exists, you will receive a pop-up notification of a Permission Request form.
- Click on the button "Send" to request permission. If applicable, you could add a message to the asset owner in the box.
- An email requesting permission is sent to the original owner. When permission is granted, you will receive an email from Netilion. To see the permissions, click on the "Show Asset" button.
- You will be directed to the ID page of your asset on Netilion. Now, you have access to the digital twin of the asset.
