As could be seen in this related article, permissions are an essential part of collaborating with other users and user groups.
The four key types of permissions are:
- read: permission to read a data object
- update: permission to update attributes of the data object
- delete: permission to permanently delete the data object
- permit: permission to grant other users permission on a data object, as well as to see the current users which have already been granted permissions
The creator of a data object (e.g. Location Node, Asset or Tag/Instrumentation) automatically gets all four permissions assigned. Please note that there must always be at least one user who has all four permissions.
Permissions can also be assigned to user groups, which in turn inherit the permissions to the users who are part of the user group.
